Description

In a few words

The Sentier des mineurs is an easy level hiking site. By walking or even skiing the various loops which total 7.9 km, you will discover viewpoints, rest areas, belvederes and panels of historical, geological and wildlife interpretations. A playground for children as well as a most artistic picnic area complete the site's offer.

The site stands out as one of the rare places in the Thetford region where nature has regained its rights following mining. You will have the chance to explore two old mine pits that have become large lakes: the Boston Mine (Lake Boston) and the Carey Mine. Lake Boston is fed by a superb waterfall, which makes the environment suitable for stocking fish for sport fishing. Swimming is therefore prohibited! The Carey Mine for its part offers a magnificent view of a water of a dark turquoise color. Note that the famous "turquoise lake" seen on social networks is located on private property. It is therefore strictly forbidden to go there. Do not be like the hundreds of Internet users who have defied the prohibition and risked their safety and their integrity for a photo. Respect the owners. Respect us. Respect yourself.
